How we use AI

The Fundraisers & The Arts Fundraisers

Our Responsible Use of AI

We use AI carefully, ethically, and transparently to enhance the clarity, quality, and efficiency of our work. AI never replaces human expertise, judgment, or relationships, it simply supports our thinking.

Human First, Human Last

All strategy, narrative, and decision‑making is led by people. AI may help with structuring ideas, improving clarity, or generating options, but every output is reviewed, checked for accuracy, bias, and tone, and finalised by an experienced consultant.

No Personal Data Shared

We do not input personal, confidential, or identifying information into AI tools. This includes names, financial figures, internal documents, or anything that could identify an organisation, beneficiary, staff member, or partner. All AI use is anonymised using generic placeholders (e.g., [arts charity], [£X budget]).

Ethical Tools Only

We use AI tools known for strong safety, privacy, and responsible‑scaling standards. Our recommended tool is Claude.ai, chosen for its governance approach and privacy‑aware design. We continually review the ethical, social, and environmental transparency of AI providers and update our recommendations as the landscape evolves.

AI for Good

We use AI only when it adds meaningful value — for example:

  • strengthening narrative flow
  • simplifying dense text for accessibility
  • summarising non‑sensitive notes
  • generating alternative framings or structures

AI is never used to fabricate information, generate unverified claims, or automate relationship‑based work.

Bias, Inclusion & Accessibility

We check AI outputs for bias, representation, and inclusive language. We also use AI to support accessibility, for example: converting complex text into plain English or checking readability, and this is always done with human oversight.

Environmental Responsibility

AI is used intentionally and proportionately by our team. We avoid unnecessary prompts, regenerations, or compute‑heavy tasks that do not materially improve the work. We choose energy‑efficient models where possible, log our AI use, and are actively exploring ways to balance environmental impact by supporting projects that protect and restore nature.

Model Limitations

AI tools can make mistakes or produce outdated or incomplete information. We never rely on AI for factual accuracy without human verification.

Your Trust Comes First

Your organisation’s voice, values, and integrity remain at the centre of every piece of work. AI supports the process, but humans lead the thinking, the storytelling, and the relationships.

Opt Out

Using AI is always optional. Clients and freelancers can opt out at any time, with no impact on quality or timelines.
